The Margaret River in Western Australia is known for their Cabernet Merlot blends and Sandalford offer up a classy example. Deep red with crimson hues, the nose has a great combination of black berry fruits and spicy toasty oak. These flavours follow onto the palate with some good fleshy fruit characters and well integrated oak. Great now, or for a number of years into the next decade.

"Beautiful aromas of redcurrant and cedar with some plummy fruit cake characters. The palate has incredible intensity with a lingering persistent finish. Poised and powerful at the same time. Tannins are very strong and ripe. This is one that will easily cellar for a few years."

The winemaker says:
Colour: Dark cherry with a magenta hue.
Nose: Very much a classic “Bordeaux” like nose with ripe berry fruits and a touch of violet. Oak nuances are well and truly integrated in to the bouquet.
Palate: Quite young and fresh still. Certainly ripe juicy dark fruit flavours with textured tannins and a warming mouthfeel. Slightly more herbal and savoury in nature, as opposed to a “sweet” fruit style. No evidence of jamminess. Balanced with good length, this wine will cellar well under the correct conditions for several more years to come. – Paul Boulden, Winemaker Sandalford Wines
Winery/Label Information:
A new addition to the Sandalford portfolio is the Margaret River Range of wines sourced from Sandalford’s world class resources in Margaret River. These wines are sourced from a combination of the Sandalford Estate and other premium vineyards in the Margaret River with wine styles reflecting current consumer tastes for vibrant, up front varietal flavours.
After crushing the must was inoculated with a Bordeaux Red strain of yeast and fermentation proceeded at an even pace for two weeks until dryness. The wine was then drained and pressed. After MLF the wine was matured for 6 months in older French oak barriques prior to blending, clarification and bottling. - Sandalford Wines
