Nose: Beautifully ripe and rich brambly berries with blackberry classically coming through. Well integrated vanillin and chocolate-like oak and certainly more restrained in this aspect than the 2004. Palate: A full-bodied wine of great depth and power. Certainly the ripe dark fruits are there but so are the hallmarks of spice with anise, clove and cinnamon all wafting through. The oak is in full support and the finish is one of sweet fruit flavours and balance. The tannins are velvet-like. This wine is just a baby at release and history tells us it will age in to a beautiful first quality leather chaise lounge in the years to come.
