Winery: Henschke Region: Eden Valley Variety: Riesling Your Wine Guy says: We have found in the past that even in a poor vintage Henschke produces very good wines, so when their talent is combined with a great vintage, such as any of the past 3 years in the Eden Valley, the results are excellent. The 2010 Julius is a lovely whitish gold in the glass, intense lime and lemon juice characters with a touch of lemony sherbet abounds on the nose. The palate completes the picture of a world class Riesling with fine acid and flavours that continue for a very long time on the palate. 95 Points YWG Drink to 2019+ The winemaker says: Colour:Pale gold with green tints. Nose: The nose displays delightful frangipani aromas with lime zest, green peppercorns and a distinct minerality. Palate: Dry, tight and racy on the palate with layers of intense lime zest and citrus blossom. Excellent texture and length. Exceptional vintage, drink now to 2024. – Henschke Wines Category/Sub-Category page: Cyril Henschke developed the Henschke reputation for premium riesling wines as early as the 1950s, from the vineyard areas of Eden Valley, Keyneton and Springton. These dry, food-oriented wines are clean and crisp and have the ability to age into delicious marmalade on toast flavours, due to the cool climate of the Eden Valley region. This region provides ideal ripening conditions for the riesling grape and has a unique track record of exceptional ageing potential for the variety. The Eden Valley riesling vineyard is planted on sandy loam over gravel and bedrock, with patches of clay. It has been named in tribute to ancestor Julius Henschke, a highly acclaimed artist and sculptor. – Henschke Wines
