Winery: Henschke Region: Eden Valley Variety: Riesling Your Wine Guy says: We have found in the past that even in bad years Henschke produces very good wines, so when their talent is combined with a great vintage, like 2009 in the Eden Valley, the results are excellent. The Peggy’s Hill is a softer and more floral version of Riesling than Henschke’s Julius. The 2009 has some intense lime and citrus characters on the nose which flow on to the palate with crisp minerally acidity and lasting flavours. Fresh and lively, it expresses the variety excellently. 92 Points YWG The winemaker says: Colour:Pale gold in colour. Nose: Spicy, lifted, bath talc floral aromas with kaffir lime zest and mineral hints. Palate: The palate is textural and lush, with waves of mouthfilling lemon/lime flavours and overtones of musk. Finishes crisp and dry with great length. Exceptional vintage, drink now to 2016. – Henschke Wines Winery/Label Information: Cyril Henschke developed the Henschke reputation for premium riesling wines as early as the 1950s, from the vineyard areas of Eden Valley, Keyneton and Springton. The Riesling takes its name from a local landmark, Peggy’s Hill, at the top of the range between Eden Valley and Keyneton. Produced from selected traditional Henschke Eden Valley growers, whose vines are up to 50 years old, growing in low-vigour ancient Cambrian soils at around 500m altitude. The Eden Valley Riesling displays exceptional varietal and regional characteristics. – Henschke Wines
