Winery: Rosemount Region: McLaren Vale Variety: Shiraz Your Wine Guy says: The Show Reserve Shiraz shows a deep red with purple hues in the glass. Maturation for 20 months in a combination of seasoned and new American and French oak barrels imparts an attractive nose of toast and vanilla and gives you a velvety smooth Shiraz even at this age. The nose brims with sweet lifted fruit aromas, leafy Cabernet characters with herbally, almost earthy tones. The palate shows generous fruit weight and flavours of Shiraz fruit, spice, blackberry and dark fruit characters along with tobacco leaf and toasty oak. Firm tannins and a lengthy finish complete the wine beautifully. 93 Points YWG The winemaker says: Good winter and spring rains in McLaren Vale led into warmer conditions at flowering and fruit set. Some heat in December abated and from January onwards, the weather was mild and even - ideal conditions for producing concentrated, full flavoured fruit. Vintage started two weeks earlier than usual, while the quality of Shiraz was a highlight because of its elegance, finesse, structure and length. Rosemount Estate Winery/Label Information: The Show Reserve range presents the best varietal and regional partnerships in Australia; Hunter Valley for semillon and chardonnay, Coonawarra for cabernet sauvignon and McLaren Vale for shiraz.
