Mike Brown Winemaker - having worked for a couple of years at d'Arenberg, Mike was asked by the Buttery's to make their wine for Gemtree. With 340 acres, the heart of McLaren Vale has been the home of Paul and Jill Buttery who have been grape-growing for over 25 years. The Buttery-Brown families are first generation winemakers drawing on the expertise from three generations of grape growing.

The extensive estate has over 20 different soil types which ensures that the very best parcels of fruit are nurtured and selected from a diverse range to make the Gemtree range of wines. In 2008, following two years of trials, Gemtree have converted 100% of their vineyards to biodynamics, further improving wine quality and ensuring sustainability of their estate for the next generation.
