Winery: Lindemans
Region: Coonawarra
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot
Your Wine Guy says:
The elegant Pyrus in generous Bordeaux styling, created to be enjoyed young or left to improve in the bottle for many years to come. A complex assemblage of fruit flavours, Lindemans Pyrus is made in a rich style, sourced from the centre of the famed Terra Rossa strip, including selected parcels from the century old Nursery Vineyard, which is the oldest planting in Coonawarra. Pyrus is structured around intensely flavoured old vine Cabernet Sauvignon, combining deliciously with Malbec and Merlot to create a rich yet smooth wine of great complexity.

Critics say:
"An earthy, cedary character weaves through a generous core of berry and red currant fruit in this firm Cabernet blend. The finish expands nicely!" -Winespectator.com
"An almost overwhelming wave of thick, concentrated berry expressions, elusive minty hints, bacon and smoke. Bacchus give me strength to avoid an immediate revisitation!" -Wineweekly.com.au
"Classic Coonawarra chocolate mint aromas abound. Medium bodied - stylish and elegant in structure. Intense blackcurrants, raspberries, aniseed and dark bitter chocolate – fine dusty tannins. A very impressive red blend, well crafted and put together with grace and character that reflects the high standard of this brand over the years. Will suit a nice New York Cut with mushroom sauce!" -Paulippolito.com.au
The winemaker says:
This wine was matured for 12 months in a combination of new French (80%) and seasoned American (20%) oakbarrels.
Colour: Deep red with purple hues.
Nose: The nose shows blueberry, blackberry and plum fruit notes with spicy aromas typical of Coonawarra, married with dusty vanillin oak complexity.
Palate: Medium bodied with sweet berry fruit flavours with excellent intensity. Plummy Merlot fills out the mid-palate with spicy, earthy Malbec notes adding to the fine supple tannins, creating a long finish. Brett Sharpe - Winemaker
