Your Wine Guy says:
A complex nose showing layers of black cherry, cinnamon and cedar. The palate is spice driven with vibrant red cherries supporting the denser more concentrated dark fruits. The weighty structure provides a solid backbone to the wine which follows through to a long cassis and cocoa finish. Wickedly easy to drink and full of flavour.

Critics say:
"More oak weighs in here, quite assertive, sitting across ripe plum fruits and earthy complexity. The palate’s rich and sturdy, quite solid and fleshy with dark cherry and juicy cola-like flavour. Oak adds a chewy edge to the finish. Best given some time."

Winery Information:
Carrick, a small winery situated around the corner from Felton Road, incorporates a cellar door and restaurant that overlooks the spectacular Bannockburn Inlet. It’s a beautiful place to visit with some great wines and very helpful and friendly staff (great food too if you’re lucky enough to make the trip to the cellar door and eat at the restaurant).
Carrick’s owner Steve Green has long been an avid ambassador of the outstanding quality of wines able to be produced from vines in the Central Otago region since the very early 90’s. Steve is on the Board of Wine New Zealand, and has been both the chairperson of Central Otago Pinot Noir Limited and also the President of the Central Otago Winegrowers Association.
Winemaker Jane Docherty came to Carrick recently from just down the lake at Felton Road Wines where she had significantly proved her worth and is blessed with an exceptional palate and if you make a booking in advance you may even be lucky enough to have Jane take you through their impressive selection of wines herself.
Favourites here are Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnays (the Rosé was great too, but sadly not enough of the Rosé is produced to be imported into Australia).
