Your Wine Guy says:
The Signature is rich in colour with an almost black core and deep dark crimson rim. The nose is intense showing blackberry, cedar, blackcurrant and spicy notes. With a rich, full bodied palate that is full of dark chocolate, blackberry, spice and blackcurrant flavours. Great length of flavour with integrated fine grained tannins.

Critics say:
“While the FDR1A is all about power, The Signature provides a journey based on grace, elegance and purity; fresh, vibrant and completely unevolved, the essency fruit is pure and poised, and the tannins are silky and fine; the vibrancy of the fruit core is electric, as is the persistence of the finish.”

The winemaker says:
“The Yalumba Signature 2006 is a very deep dark red with generous sweet dark chocolate and warm fig, blackcurrant and cedary spices on the nose. The palate is broad shouldered, intense and concentrated with lingering red and blackcurrant notes. Young and tight, this wine will reveal an elegance and silky refinement on the palate given time. Perfect with braised lamb shanks.” – Kevin Glastonbury Yalumba Senior Winemaker

The following information was sourced from www.yalumba.com
Beginning with the 1962 vintage, 'The Signature' wines of Yalumba have saluted the very best of the vintage. They also have acknowledged the skills and dedicated service of people who have enhanced the traditions and culture of Yalumba.
The Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz blend is a distinctively Australian style, and The Signature
has set the benchmark for this iconic style, drawing heavily on Yalumba's great Barossa
resource of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz vineyards. Deep and intense - a wine made for
longevity, very much "The Signature" style.
Yalumba was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, British migrant and English brewer, who had brought his family to Angaston seeking a new life. After purchasing a 30-acre parcel of land just beyond the southern-eastern boundary of Angaston, Smith and his son began planting the first vines by moonlight. Samuel named his patch "Yalumba" – aboriginal for "all the land around". Five generations and 160 years later Yalumba, Australia's oldest family owned winery, has grown in size and stature, embodying all that has made the Australian wine success story the envy of winemakers the world over.
Yalumba wines have a style all of their own and each have been influenced by a diverse range of elements. Elements Yalumba likes to call 'the controllables', such as the Yalumba Vine Nursery and on-site cooperage – as well as other factors that cannot be emulated by any other winery. Yalumba’s history and tradition combined with a reputation for innovation.
Available wines from their range include:
The Octavius Shiraz
The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon
The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz
The Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
The Virgilius Viognier
