The Two in the Bush Merlot Cabernet shows lifted aromas of red berry fruits, fleshy plums, subtle oak, and a rich vibrant palate that has hints of blackcurrant, nutmeg, and cedary oak notes. Intense dark berry flavours of the Merlot, balance the length and structure from the Cabernet. Aged for 10 months in a combination of French and American oak and bottled without fining or filtration to retain maximum weight and flavour.

In 1997, a young viticulturalist and winemaker, Andrew Nugent, chanced his arm in the emerging wine region of the Adelaide Hills planting vineyards and an olive grove on 100 acres on Bird in Hand Road, Woodside. The road itself was named after the "Bird in Hand" gold mine that operated in the district in the 1850s.
Four hundred metres above sea level, the vineyards face north and boast deep, well drained red earth, formed from metamorphic rock. Andrew grew up next door to Penfolds at Magill and his formative wine years were spent in South Australia’s McLaren Vale. It was here that he honed his craft as a viticulturalist, vineyard manager and winemaker.
The Nugent family live and work on the picturesque property, reflecting the strong sense of community in the Adelaide Hills.
To extend the winemaking range available to Bird in Hand, another vineyard in the famous wine-growing region of Clare has been acquired to provide fruit for world class Riesling and Shiraz. - Bird In Hand wines |
