Your Wine Guy says:
The Cullen Margaret River White is pale straw with green edges. The nose displays an delicious mix of passionfruit, lemon citrus and some tropical fruit. The palate is richer than you might expect with good texture, the Sauvignon dominates with flavours of tropical fruits, but also showing ripe peaches from the small amount of Chardonnay in the blend. The finish is clean, crisp and dry with notes of gooseberry, and citrus. A nice example of Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, good value.

Critics say:
“This is a blend to top them all: 44% sauvignon blanc, 30% Semillon, 16% Chardonnay, 6% Chenin blanc, 2% Verdelho and 2% Riesling. There's no question, the Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are the drivers, but experience in laboratory bench blend trials tells you 2% of this or that can have a totally disproportionate influence on the final outcome. The flavours linger long after the wine is swallowed, the balance is very good. It's not made to be cellared, but it's not going away any time soon.”

The winemaker says:
Colour: Straw colour with green tinges
Nose: Complex blend of lime, guava and passionfruit and fresh cut grass
Palate: Refined, elegant and again complex, with great depth of middle palate fruit. The attractive combination of fresh passionfruit and pineapple fruit flavours are enhanced by the mineral texture. This wine has the great advantage of having an alcohol content of only 12% and yet still possesses great depth of flavour.
Winery Information:
In the early 1960′s detailed climatic studies of various regions in South-western Australia revealed that during the winegrowing season, Margaret River’s climate was similar to that of Bordeaux, particularly Pomerol. The conclusion that Margaret River was ideal for viticulture was first tested in Wilyabrup in 1966, when Diana and Kevin Cullen planted a trial acre of vines. The encouraging results led to the couple planting 18 acres of vines on their sheep and cattle farm in 1971.
Cullen Wines while remaining family owned has since evolved making quality wine from biodynamically grown grapes sourced exclusively from The Cullen Estate Vineyard and Mangan Vineyard. Cullen Wines
